Our last pick of the day is from the 2nd round of the Belgium Jupiler League, between the teams of Waasland Beveren and St Liege. Waasland looked generally poor for the most of their season opening game against Waregem. They entered the clash slowly and were down already in the 4th minute with a goal from Faik. Their performance didn't improve much at the start of the second halftime either, as the hosts doubled up the lead in the 64th minute via Harbaoui.
Meanwhile, Standard Liege managed a 3:2 victory against also a very good visiting side of Gent. The home team took the lead in the 10th minute via Djenepo, in a very open first halftime. The guests found a way to level up during the additional time via Yaremchuk, while the home team responded with even better performance in the repetition. Liege has one more official game than their rivals, as the team played Super Cup game against Club Brugge before the start of the season. It needs to be said that they were very competitive in that match, but lost it due to a poor ending of the first halftime when the favored team from Brugge got the double lead.
Standard has the quality to get the victory here and they do score easier than in previous season. At least that would be the first impression. However, the home team comes from a morale boosting achievement and is also far away from a naive side. They too have shown that they can score goals. We expect another open and very exciting game with goals scored at both ends.
