World Cup 2014 Schedule & Fixtures

With FIFA World Cup 2014 being the 20th and most expensive ever world championship, expectations and emotions are set to be enormous. The best 32 teams in the world are going to play against each other, but in the end, only one will raise the trophy. The squads of the hosts from Brazil, alongside with other major title contenders such as Argentina, Germany, Spain, Belgium and Netherlands are placed next to not so much known or in good shape teams such as England, Italy, Colombia, Australia, Uruguay and France. The FIFA World Cup 2014 in Brazil will also be the best covered football event in our days. Various news surrounding the championship, new technologies, such as 4K transmitting of every match, camera view from a helicopter and many other will surely contribute to a really lifetime experience.

Let’s focus for a moment on the news. Since the squads will not be officially available until one week before the opening ceremony, there are many rumours. Every media is exuding more and more time on news regarding the World Cup 2014 – who will play and who will be left in the cold, what tactics will the teams use, there is a little football in every news you hear or read.

Bookmakers do not stay away from the rumble, too. After every new piece of news, they change or directly create new bets. Outright bets are surely very popular among sports betting fans because they offer higher odd rates, although you will have to wait until the end of the tournament. Of course, odds depend on the news that come from the camps of the squads – which player is in superb form or which one is injured etc. In the end, after all, it will all come to the results after the first few matches when the bookies will be ready with most of the odds and bets.

FIFA WORLD CUP 2014 SCHEDULE

The opening ceremony and the first match are scheduled for 12th June 2014 at Arena de Sao Paulo in Sao Paulo. The squad of the hosts from Brazil will play against the team of Croatia which will not be able to count on their superstar Mario Mandzukic, who is suspended. The group stage ends on 26th June with a match between the sides of Russia and Algeria. The squad of Australia, however, will have a very tough obstacle in the face of Chile, Netherlands and Spain, the last two of which are the favourites in the Group B.

The first match from the knockout phase will be played between the winner in group A and the runner-up in group B on 28th June at Estadio Mineirao in Belo Horizonte. The most important two days will definitely be the 12th and 13th of July when the third place match and respectively the final will be played. You can always rely on footballtips24.net, if you have missed the game or you want to see the results from the matches you did not watched.

FIFA WORLD CUP 2014 FIXTURES

Definitely, the most interesting match in Group A will be between the squads of Brazil and Croatia which is also the opening game for the World Cup 2014. The two sides are equal with Brazil ranked №9 and Croatia №16, although the team of Brazil have big advantage since they play on home ground.

Group B is even more knotty with the sides of Spain, Netherlands and Chile, respectively №1, №10 and №15 in FIFA ranking, trying to pull out of this group. The highlight is definitely going to be the clash between Netherlands and Spain on 13th June when the Oranjes will try to get even with the team that stole the title from them at the final of the last World Cup four years ago.

Greece will face a difficult challenge in the eyes of Colombia who are currently ranked №5. The match between both teams will decide who will finish first in their Group C.

England, Italy and Uruguay will have to put enormous efforts to get out of the group they are with the three teams equally capable of challenging the favourites from Spain, Brazil and Germany. The highlight in Group D will be, of course, the match between Italy and England, mainly because of their year-long rivalry.

Switzerland, France and Ecuador are the main contenders for qualifying in the next round from Group E with Switzerland being the firm favourites in the group. Naturally, the clash between France and Switzerland is going to be the key match in the group.

Group F has the squads of Argentina, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iran and Nigeria. There is no doubt that the only team  that has a secure place for the knockout stage is the squad of Argentina. With players like Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero, Angel Di Maria and Gonzalo Higuain, it is quite sure that the battle is going to be for the second place in the group.

Germany and Portugal will have to decide who will finish first in Group G and get an easier opponent in the first knockout stage. The squads of USA and Ghana should not pose a threat for neither of the both teams.

Group H is also dominated by European countries. Russia and Belgium ranked respectively №19 and  №10 should not encounter any opposition in the eyes of Algeria and South Korea, so it is up to the match between the two squads in which the first place in the group is going to be decided.

The last match from the group stages is on the 26th of June between Algeria and Russia. Two days later, on the 28th of June starts the knockout phase with the match between the winner from Group A and the runner-up from Group B.
